Justly Tuned Launch Concert: Bent Frequency Duo Project

  • Kline Lazarus Percussion Studio, PLF/S, Frost School of Music College Drive Coral Gables, FL, 33146 United States (map)

On Sept. 7, 2019, FETA launches Justly Tuned, a new concert series engaging with social and political issues that explores music as communication, commentary, and catalyst for change.

The series debuts with the Bent Frequency Duo Project - Jan Berry Baker (saxophone) and Stuart Gerber (percussion) - performing music by Laurie Anderson, Colette Coward, Sarah Hennies, Elainie Lillios, Amy Williams, Olivia Kieffer, and the world premiere of Dorothy Hindman’s 13 For 3 Through 5.

The audience is invited to a post-concert discussion exploring the meaning, practice, and ramifications of socially conscious programming in today’s classical music.

Hailed as “one of the brightest new music ensembles on the scene today” Atlanta-based Bent Frequency brings the avant-garde to life through adventurous and socially conscious programming, cross-disciplinary collaborations, and community engagement. One of BF’s primary goals is championing the work of historically underrepresented composers - music by women, composers of color, and LGBTQIA+.
